Linn Selekt DSM: Organik DAC + new Edition Hub

Selekt DSM 2022 Organik DAC + Edition Hub

The already outstanding Linn Selekt DSM is getting even better, with the addition of Organik DAC, Edition Hub and Utopik PSU.

Linn Selekt DSM is the most configurable digital music player around. It is versatile, upgradeable and Linn’s logic behind that is to allow continuous technological advancements, and hence performance improvements, to be incorporated; future-proofing if you like.

Selekt DSM’s modular nature already allows for bi-amping, Katalyst DAC upgrade, surround sound and HDMI in/out; now Selekt can be configured with:

  • 2 levels of enclosure quality – Classik or Edition Hub
  • 3 tiers of DAC performance – standard, Katalyst or Organik
  • Make it your own – choose your application: source only, integrated amplification for one-box simplicity, HDMI connection, bi-amping, surround sound.

If that sound complex, don’t worry, we will explain your options simply and guide you to your own ultimate Selekt DSM package.

Edition Hub

  • Superior-quality enclosure, featuring an all-machined construction for improved rigidity, interior isolation, and elevated aesthetic appeal — with sleek sight lines, concealed joins and understated luxury at the fore.
  • Four plates, rigidly bolted together. The side pieces are flawlessly aligned with the base using pins, with four long bolts subsequently torqued-in for an exceptionally rigid fix, with a pleasing, precision fit and finish.
  • Primary vent precision-cut into aluminium lid to provide requisite heat management and design appeal –  evocative of a wave, with each aperture cut at an angle and only every second one machined all the way through. When viewed from different angles, this wave motif morphs and ripples — with myriad reflections projected from its various finishes and surfaces.
  • Much-improved, eye-catching control dial with a precision, turned stainless-steel bearing ensuring silky, tactile rotation when adjusting volume. Featuring a return to the famous ‘Clyde Built’ logo and a photoetched steel halo around its edge allows cool, sharp light to emanate from the one hundred individual LEDs beneath.
  • An array of six extruded anodised-aluminium ‘smart’ buttons, providing convenient, one-touch access to favourite playlists, artists, albums, or inputs.
  • High-performance, integrated, analogue-to-digital conversion stage accepting anything from turntables to CD players
  • All-glass fascia composed of mirrored spy glass; dimmable to invisible. Movement sensors illuminate the fascia on approach.
  • Three stainless-steel feet, each impressed with a silicon ‘O’- ring which aids in decoupling from the surface on which they sit.
  • Stereo RCA line out connectors designed to feed powered subwoofers.
  • 1/4” headphone jack added, concealed on the enclosure’s left wall — providing further versatility without disrupting the clean design of its frontal aspect.
  • Available in natural silver or black anodised finish.
  • A host of digital connections allowing connection to video streaming devices, games consoles, and Blu-ray players — ensuring you get tremendous sound quality from anything you connect to your Selekt DSM.
  • Linn’s ground-breaking room-correction software – Space Optimisation – as standard.

DAC Performance Level

Selekt DSM has three choices of DAC, delivering three performance levels – good, better, best.

Standard DAC
The standard option; a stereo DAC module that performs beautifully.

Katalyst DAC
Gain a deeper insight into your music; upgrade to Katalyst for astonishing levels of detail and musicality in all applications.

Organik DAC
Designed without compromise, and engineered entirely in-house, Organik is the culmination of Linn’s over thirty years of digital technology expertise; it is undisputedly the highest-performing DAC architecture to ever bear the Linn name. Organik is now available for Selekt DSM; in either stereo or, for ultimate performance, dualmono.

Dualmono
For the highest level of sublime sonic quality achievable from Selekt DSM – Linn has developed an exceptional, relentlessly optimised, dual-mono Organik DAC configuration with Line Out connections to feed your desired external amplification.

Once you have chosen your Selekt DSM enclosure and DAC, it’s time to Make it Your Own 😊. What do you want it to do? For now that is, remember you can add functionality and improve performance anytime. Selekt can be:

Source only
If you’re looking to replace the nucleus of your separates system – maybe an old CD player or existing music streamer, choose source only Selekt.

Source plus integrated amplifiers
If you prefer the convenience of a one-box system, maybe looking to downsize from a separates system, Selekt DSM with integrated amplifiers is the one for you; just add speakers.

Better amplification
For even higher performance, your Selekt DSM can be expanded for bi-amping, tri-amping or be Exakt-enabled to drive certain non-Linn loudspeakers.

Connect to your TV
Will Selekt DSM be the centre of your family’s home entertainment? With its comprehensive array of digital and analogue connectivity, your Selekt DSM will receive, process, and deliver sumptuous sound, no matter the source. Connect to your television via the in-built HDMI ARC socket (or opt for the additional HDMI switching module featuring high-resolution eARC) to render movie, video game, and TV show soundtracks with stunning clarity and power.

Home Cinema
Selekt DSM can also be configured to form the heart of a home cinema setup. The addition of both a DSP and HDMI switching module facilitates home theatre output options ranging from 2.1 to 7.2 Surround Sound – with all the required connectivity for satellite speakers and subwoofers.

What does this mean for Linn Akurate?

After 14 years of great success at the core of Linn’s digital streaming offering, Akurate streaming products have reached the end of their lifecycle and will be discontinued.

The top-performing new Selekt DSM configurations, featuring both Edition Hub enclosure and Organik DAC, don’t just comprehensively outperform Akurate streamers of any age but previous-generation Klimax DSM with Katalyst too.

If you own a Linn Akurate streamer, please get in touch. We have a trade-up offer that is going to be very difficult to refuse😉.

We will of course be launching new Selekt DSM options in store soon, so stay tuned to our Events page and email newsletters for further details.
